Happy Friday! Today’s feature is one of my good Friends Sade. She is very hard working in her community and a very crafty lady. When it comes to crocheting and creating accessories she is my go to gal. Sade is also very vocal about African American rights and inspires me with her ideas on how to build a better community for AA. Find out why she is my feature this Friday….
1.Name and where you are from
Sade Hobson Singleton, Mobile, AL
2.What’s the one thing you would like to change about yourself?
I would like to change from working full time employment to full time entrepreneurship
3. Is what you’re doing now what you always wanted to do growing up?
Yes, I always wanted to help people, which is what I do in my side hustle (9 to 5). I also have always been very creative, as a child I was constantly creating things or expressing myself through outlets such as writing. I also tried to sell things I made, even when I wasn’t very good at what I was selling. I call it an entrepreneurial spirit!
4. What makes you feel accomplished?
Accomplishing my goals and building up other people. I have this dream of community building. No one can succeed without other people. I think so many people approach entrepreneurship with the mind state no one helped me, so I’m not helping anyone else. That’s not how you build community wealth.
5. What is a relationship deal breaker for you?
Liars, weak minds, selfishness, CHEATERS!
6. Who is that one person you can talk to about just anything?
Johnnie – he aight! Nah he’s my pookiest wookiest. Most of the time he’s understanding, but he always has rational perspective, whereas I can be a bit dramatic. It’s called balance lol.
7.What are you most thankful for?
I’m most thankful for my family! They drive me, give me headaches, and make sure I don’t get too full of myself.
8.What do you think about when you’re by yourself?
I think about how to be free! Free from debt, time restrictions, being a better wife, person, and business owner. I often think about and pray for my unborn children. I’m sure I’m not surviving in this world off of my prayers alone. I think I have generations of prayers protecting me.
9.What Do You Define As “Womanliness”?
I define womanliness as strength. We carry the world on our shoulders and most of the time we do it wrapped in some dainty cloth, heels, or some other beautifully uncomfortable contraption. Our ability to overcome tragedy, heartbreaks, and childbirth, lets me know we are godly creatures.
10. If You Could Live Forever, How Would You Spend Eternity?
Creating, traveling, loving, learning, and building community.
11.What Is “Home” To You?
Home is now split for me, everywhere I have lived, I now consider home. My version of home consist of Johnnie and his smell, Alabama A & M University, hardwood floors, southern twang, lots of laughs, dysfunctional love, creation, cousins, slumber parties with cousins, plum switches, sweet tea, front porches, Mardi Gras, the beach, endless conversation, and my granny’s laugh.
12.In What Ways Are You the Same as Your Childhood Self?
I have NEVER cared what people think about me, and I hold onto an insane amount of optimism.
13.If You Could Abolish One Piece Of Modern Technology, What Would It Be And Why?
Social Media! Social media has so many benefits, but also possess very detrimental effects on people. Social media highlights a herd mentality, by causing people to long after other people’s lives in an envious way, and not cherish the great things they have going on in their own lives. I believe in individuality! Social Media impacts people’s behavior by reducing people’s need or want for self-expression, and has become a platform for cowardly bigots, and a way for insecure people to be fake deep or fake dope. Just do you! The world will benefit from one you more than there being 1,000 of the same person.
14.How do you want to be remembered?
I want to be remembered as someone who remained true to herself, inspirational, community influencer, creative genius, great mother and wife, relentless goal achiever, and unforgivingly dope!
15. How can people keep up with you? Social Media? Website? And what’s your next project?
